Man robs Springfield bank from drive-through, claims he planted bomb

A man robbed a Springfield bank using the drive-through lane, claiming he had put a bomb in the building.

Springfield Police were called to the PNC bank on 2000 block East Main Street about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. A bank teller told police that a man wearing a black mask sent a note through the drive-through tube system demanding money.

“The note also said that the male had placed a bomb in the lobby of the bank and he had the ability to remote detonate if the bank contacted police before he left the area,” a police report says.

The teller sent money back through the tube system and the robber drove off.
