New light bulb may make you sleep better

A new light bulb from Philips is designed to make sleeping and waking up easier.

The company, which has headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands, has created a lighting system called Philips Hue white ambiance, which gradually brightens and dims at two times of the day, similar to a sunrise and sunset, according to PC Magazine.

The company said lights will also have connectivity to a new Philips Hue app, which allows users to set features to encourage them to wake up and go to sleep.

The features will be similar to the rising and setting of the sun, the company said.

The app is designed to work with the Apple HomeKit, which uses technology in apps to connect home products. They can be controlled with iPhones, Apple Watches or Siri.

The starter kit will have two Philips Hue white ambiance bulbs and a Philips Hue dimmer switch. It will also have a bridge to connect to the HomeKit.

According to a Monday news release, the Philips app will also have a "night light" feature for those who wake up in the middle of the night.

Philips Hue also is compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat, Nest Cam, Nest Protect, Amazon Alexa, Amazon's home device and others.

The Verge reported that a price for the devices has not been announced.

The bulbs are expected to be available in this spring.
