Wright State to play five Ohio teams in non-conference schedule

The Raiders finished 21-14 last season, the third for coach Scott Nagy.

"Our non-conference schedule will be competitive and entertaining for our fans," Nagy said in a press release. "We will be challenged both at home and on the road. We also look forward to being a part of the Gulf Coast Showcase. This schedule will get us prepared for a tough Horizon League slate in January and February."

Here’s a glance at the games:

Nov. 5, home vs. Central State: The Division II Marauders finished 6-23 last season.

Nov. 9, at Miami RedHawks: The Raiders lost 65-62 at home to Miami last season.

Nov. 12, at Tennessee Tech: The Golden Eagles finished 8-23 last season and have a new coach, John Pelphrey, the former head coach at South Alabama and Arkansas.

Nov. 16, home vs. Kent State: The Raiders have played the Golden Flashes the last three seasons and have won two of the meetings.

Nov. 20, home vs. Urbana University: Wright State last played Division II Urbana in 2016, winning 83-54.

Nov. 25, vs. Weber State: This 5 p.m. game takes place in first round of the Gulf Coast Showcase in Fort Myers, Fla.

Nov. 26, Gulf Coast Showcase: The Raiders will play Murray State or La Salle in the second game.

Nov. 27, Gulf Coast Showcase: The final opponent will be Northeastern, South Alabama, Drake or the Miami RedHawks.

Dec. 3, home vs. Western Kentucky: The Hilltoppers have won 47 games the last two seasons.

Dec. 7, home vs. Indiana State: The Raiders lost 69-63 at Indiana State last season.

Dec. 12, home vs. Southern: The Jaguars finished 7-25 last season for first-year coach Sean Woods, who played for the Kentucky Wildcats with the Tennessee Tech coach Pelphrey on the team that lost to Duke in the Elite Eight in 1992.

Dec. 17: vs. Mississippi Valley State: The Delta Devils are coached by Lindsey Hunter, who won two NBA championships as a player with the Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons.

Dec. 21: at Toledo: The Raiders have beaten the Rockets 77-69 and 84-74 the last two seasons.
