Cooper Johnson has distinguished himself in soccer at Urbana High School, but his future is in football.
Johnson signed with Ohio Dominican University during Wednesday’s National Signing Day. He’ll be a place-kicker and punter for Columbus-based program.
Johnson was All-Ohio in soccer as a senior and was the Central Buckeye Conference soccer player of the year as a junior and senior. He tallied 64 career goals and set the record for most single-season assists (18) and career assists (35).
An NCAA Division II program, Ohio Dominican was 7-3 this past season, its last in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Panthers will join the Great Midwestern Athletic Conference beginning next season.
