Urbana’s Johnson signs with Ohio Dominican in football

Cooper Johnson has distinguished himself in soccer at Urbana High School, but his future is in football.

Johnson signed with Ohio Dominican University during Wednesday’s National Signing Day. He’ll be a place-kicker and punter for Columbus-based program.

Johnson was All-Ohio in soccer as a senior and was the Central Buckeye Conference soccer player of the year as a junior and senior. He tallied 64 career goals and set the record for most single-season assists (18) and career assists (35).

An NCAA Division II program, Ohio Dominican was 7-3 this past season, its last in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Panthers will join the Great Midwestern Athletic Conference beginning next season.
