Springfield's Lloyd, Versailles' Prakel move on at Olympic trials

Springfield South High School and Wright State graduate Cassandra Lloyd moved on to the semifinals in the 100-meter hurdles at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon on Thursday.

Lloyd placed fifth in her heat and 18th overall with a time of 13.08.

The semifinals are today at 6:58 p.m. followed by the finals at 8:54 p.m.

Tippecanoe High School and Michigan State University graduate Katie Landwehr ran a 9:41.22 in the 3000-meter steeplechase final, placing 11th. The top three runners qualified for Rio.

Sam Prakel finished fifth in his heat and 24th overall with a 3:50.73, advancing to today's semifinals in the 1500-meter. Prakel is a Versailles High School graduate and sophomore at the University of Oregon.

Dunbar High School and Ohio State University graduate Antonio Blanks ran a 52.61, finishing sixth in his heat and 25th overall in the 400-meter hurdles. He did not qualify for the semifinals.
