HS Roundup 5/9: Stiefel, Elliott homer in win for Anna

Seth Stiefel and Carter Elliott each slammed home runs in leading Anna to a 13-3 win versus Troy Christian in sectional baseball action on Wednesday.

Stiefel and Elliott both had two-run shots and Zach White added a 4-for-4 day with a triple and three runs scored. White also picked up the win on the mound.

Tyler Jackson drove in all three of Troy Christian’s runs and Zach Seagraves went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

Sectional Tournament

Tri-County North 17, Cedarville 0: Collin Whipp had three hits and a solo home run out of the leadoff spot, Jacob Isaacs doubled and drove in five runs and Liam Downing doubled and brought in three runs for TCN.

Tri-Village 14, Yellow Springs 2: Derek Eyer tallied three hits, including a home run, and drove in three to pace Tri-Village. Jared Buckley added a triple with two RBI.

West Liberty-Salem 9, Northeastern 0: Thomas Allen and Trevor Woodruff combined on a four-hit shutout, with Allen striking out ten. Levi Moell and Allen each had three hits and two RBI and two runs scored.

Sectional Tournament

Springboro 7, Butler 0: Sophie Weber tripled and homered, Sarah Metcalfe drove in a pair of runs and Gabby Hougan had three hits including a double to lead Springboro at the plate. On the mound Molly Pfiffner struck out nine in seven shutout innings.

Fairfield 8, McAuley 6: Jordan Shotwell homered and drove in three runs and Lindsey Mitchell, Rhiana Hubbard and Maiah Hodge each added one RBI apiece to help Fairfield win in rally fashion.

Edgewood 8, Sycamore 0: Edgewood pushed four runs across in the third inning and cemented the lead with three more in the sixth. Sam Davis picked up the win on the mound.

West Liberty-Salem 12, Miami East 2: Hallie Strapp and Kelsey Day each plated a pair of runs, Julia Ames tripled and scored twice and Dierdre McGill had a double, a RBI and three runs scored for WLS.

Arcanum 5, National Trail 4: Macey Hartman plated a pair of runs and Sydney Artz and Gracie Garno added two hits apiece to pace Arcanum.

Boys Tennis

Edgewood 4, Lebanon 1: Evan Doughman rallied to beat Chris Reiff in first singles for Lebanon’s lone win. David Winter and Dylan Turner had singles wins for Edgewood.

Boys Volleyball

Carroll 3, Fairmont 2: John Brun tallied 20 kills with 17 digs, Kevin Brun added 39 assists with 16 digs and Reed Cusack tacked on nine kills with 17 digs to lead Carroll.
