HS Roundup 1/23: Steinbrunner leads ‘Creek in upset of Carroll

Visiting Beavercreek pulled away in the second half to upset unbeaten Carroll 57-44 in girls basketball on Wednesday.

Taylor Steinbrunner tallied 21 points and Alyssa Hargrove-Hall added 10 for ‘Creek.

Elizabeth Bush put up 12 points for Carroll.

Beavercreek won its sixth straight, improving to 10-6; Carroll, the state’s top-ranked Division II team, dropped to 15-1.

Girls Basketball

Badin 83, Wyoming 45: Shelby Nusbaum scored 20 points, Jada Pohlen chipped in 13 and Badin snapped a four-game losing skid.

Centerville 67, Northmont 35: Cotie McMahon tallied 20 points with 12 rebounds and Amy Velasco added 18 points to help Centerville improve to 16-1.

Colerain 54, Hamilton 48: CiCi Riggins recorded 24 points with nine rebounds in a losing effort for Hamilton.

Fairmont 60, Miamisburg 39: Mali Morgan-Elliott chipped in 20 points, Madeline Westbeld added 13 and Madison Bartley 10 for Fairmont. Anna Long paced Miamisburg with 20 points.

Greeneview 59, Mechanicsburg 51: Sylvie Sonneman scored 19 points and Kenzie Harding tacked on 16 to pace Greeneview. Morgan Hamby led Mechanicsburg with 20 points.

Harrison 61, Talawanda 31: Jazz Bennett finished with 10 points in a losing effort for Talawanda.

Kenton Ridge 83, Graham 37: Mikala Morris poured in 41 points and Mariah Baker tacked on 15 for Kenton Ridge.

Lakota East 48, Middletown 43: Jordan Stanley scored 17 points and Lakota East pulled ahead from a tie game entering the final quarter. Samill Calhoun had 15 points for Middletown.

Springfield Shawnee 33, Northwestern 27: Paree Furness scored 11 points for Shawnee. Abbie Grieser paced Northwestern with 11 points.

Tecumseh 72, Urbana 30: Presley Griffitts put up 18 points and Mae Mastin and Mackenzie Pauley pitched in 16 apiece for Tecumseh.

Wayne 55, Lebanon 31: Kendall Folley chipped in 13 points for Lebanon.

West Liberty-Salem 60, Madison Plains 19: Kelsey Day scored 18 points and Selena Weaver 16 to help WLS move to 10-0 in conference play.

Boys Bowling

Ben Logan 2481, Indian Lake 2123: Tyler Nicholas rolled a 419 series and Devon Snider added a 396 for Ben Logan.

Carroll 2380, Franklin 2200: Michael Goubeaux bowled a 383 series for Carroll. Evan Kransosski shot a 356 series for Franklin.

Tecumseh 2037, Greeneview 2012: Brysten Boiser had the high game of 206 and high series of 374 for Greeneview.

Girls Bowling

Ben Logan 2305, Indian Lake 1743: Kayla Snyder shot games of 188 and 181 and Erica Warne added a 191 for Ben Logan.

Wrestling

Lakota East 37, Beavercreek 28: Drew Wanke, Max Boaz and Aaron Sharp each won by pin for Lakota East. Kyah Patrick, Jordan Dillon, John Hammond and Bradley Smith each had a pin victory for ‘Creek.
