HS Roundup 4/16: Moon leads Monroe baseball in shutout win

Monroe baseball blanked Bellbrook 10-0 on Tuesday.

Charlie Vest and Seaver Rothwell led the way with three hits apiece. Rothwell drove in a pair of runs and Braden Tarin went 2-for-2.

Sam Moon threw six innings of one-hit ball, striking out four to earn the win on the mound.

The victory avenged a 10-2 loss to Bellbrook last Friday.

Baseball

Coldwater 14, Delphos St. John’s 3: Jacob Wenning put Coldwater on the board with a run-scoring single and picked up the win on the mound. Noah Miller had a home run and Austin Riethman tallied two stolen bases.

Dayton Christian 28, Yellow Springs 0: Sam Jackson struck out 11 over four innings on the mound and Nick Dillhoff drove in six runs to lead the offensive onslaught for Dayton Christian.

Mississinawa Valley 3, Bradford 1: Ethan Dirksen, Cameron Shimp and Hawk Thomas each drove in a run to lead Mississinawa Valley.

Lebanon 18, Northmont 4: Nate Coffey and Noah Frankenburg each recorded four hits, Austin Harrison had five RBI and Kody O’Connor plated four runs to lead Lebanon.

New Bremen 7, Parkway 1: Spencer Alig struck out six in a complete-game outing, Ryan Bertke had two hits with two RBI and Mitchell Hays had two hits and two runs scored for New Bremen.

Newton 6, Arcanum 3: Michael Fecker doubled and plated a pair of runs for Arcanum but Newton scored four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good.

Northeastern 10, Southeastern 0: Michael Wilson doubled and drove in five runs, Jake Nichols added two doubles with two RBI and Mac Davis was 3-for-4 with a double to lead Northeastern.

Springboro 16, Miamisburg 6: Logan Zier swatted a double and a home run, driving in three runs and scoring two more to lead ‘Boro. Adam Berry tacked on three hits with two RBI and Ben Barber had two hits with two RBI. Ethan Schultz tallied three hits with two RBI for ‘Burg.

St. Henry 3, Versailles 0: Daylon Froning broke a scoreless tie with a sac-fly in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Rylee Deitsch and Jay Knapke scored a pair of insurance runs for St. Henry in the frame.

Triad 9, Greeneview 8: Triad doubled in a pair of runs in the bottom of the tenth inning to take the win. Greeneview had trailed by six runs in the sixth inning before rallying to tie the game. Hunter Anderson and Zach Hackney each had two RBI.

Tri-County North 23, Ansonia 0: Phillip Lockwood blasted a home run, finishing with three hits and eight RBI to pace TCN. Collin Whipp, Dylan Curtin, Tyler Cross, Wyatt Hutchins and Liam Downing each added a pair of RBI.

Troy 10, Centerville 6: Nick Hoffman had two hits with two RBI in a losing effort for Centerville.

West Liberty-Salem 4, Madison Plain 0: Nick Burden threw a complete-game shutout, Patrick Harr doubled and drove in two run and Ethan Larson and Jacob Vanhorn each had one RBI for WLS.

Softball

Bellefontaine 12, Tecumseh 5: Mack Drew and Logan Markstrom each had two hits, including a double for Markstrom, in a losing effort for Tecumseh.

Dayton Christian 16, Yellow Springs 1: Caroline Moyer struck out 10 and Deanna Young and Becca Brown each hit a home run for Dayton Christian.

Mechanicsburg 10, Greenon 0: Megan Alspaugh hit a home run and Audrey Ayars and Taylor Hurst each doubled, with Hurst driving in three runs, to lead ‘Burg. Arizona Henderson and Alex Cunningham each had one hit for Greenon.

Monroe 4, Bellbrook 3: Bri Thompson stole second and third to put her in position to score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Alyssa Wagner struck out nine in the win, improving her record to 10-0, and Sam Schwab plated a pair of runs. Kaley Clark went 2-for-3 to lead Bellbrook.

Northmont 7, Lebanon 2: D.J. Shepherd, Kassie Kelemen, Sierra Caskey and Hannah Seagraves each recorded multiple hits to lead Northmont and Carmynn Bonner picked up the win in the circle. Grace Gressly doubled for Lebanon.

Triad 11, Greeneview 0: Kendell Hughes went 3-for-3 with a double, Shelby Sheets and Olivia Butz each was 2-for-2 and Holly Alvoid hit a triple to lead Triad.

West Liberty-Salem 17, Madison Plains 4: Kelsey Day homered twice, plating seven runs and recording the win on the circle to lead WLS. Kayle Henderson added a pair of doubles and Camrin Rice scored three runs and drove in another two.

Boys Tennis

Lehman Catholic 5, Legacy Christian 0: Sam Gilardi and the doubles squad of Elias Bezy/Max Schmiesing each won their matches with scores of 6-0, 6-0 to lead Lehman Catholic.

Milton-Union 5, Dixie 0: Nick and Nathan Brumbaugh won in first and second singles, respectively, to lead Milton-Union.

Oakwood 4, Monroe 1: Sam Lahmon and Nathan Boyce recorded singles wins for Oakwood.

Tecumseh 4, Greenon 1: Drew Sarihan and Parker Randenburg each had singles wins and Tecumseh swept the doubles matches. Andrew Conover won in first singles for Greenon.

Boys Volleyball

Alter 3, McNicholas 1: Ben Conroy tallied 19 assists with two aces, Collin Kepple added 13 kills and Joe Manfre two blocks for Alter, which took the final three sets after falling behind 1-0.

Beavercreek 3, Wayne 0: ‘Creek won in straight sets to improve to 9-2.

Chaminade Julienne 3, Badin 0: Andrew Barnes put up 17 kills, A.J. Murray added 28 assists and Eric Miller 35 digs to lead CJ.
