HS Roundup 8/14: Milton-Union edges Miami East with tie breaker

In a sixth player tie-breaker, Milton-Union beat Miami East in a dual golf match on Tuesday.

Sam Zapadka earned medalist honors for Miami East with a 41 followed by Justin Brown of Milton-Union with a 45.

Milton-Union won with a score of 189 and their sixth golfer Nathan Thompson with a 50.

Girls Golf

Skyhawk Invitational: Centerville girls won with a score of 303. Leading the team was Marissa Wenzler with a 70 and Kayla Ramsey tallied a 73.

Ben Logan 190, North Union 225: Mailiis Simovart and Sydney Wesson were co-medalists with a score of 42. Leeah Valentine shot 49 and Willow Titus shot a 57. Gabrielle Schmidt carded a 61 and Taylor Lafferty carded a 74. Olivia Hahn shot a 67.

Greeneview 211, Madison Plains 225: Rachel Stickle earned medalist honors with a 49 for Greeneview.

Greenville 217, Troy 219: Jada Garland earned medalist honors with a 49 for Greenville. Second place was Lauren Garlow with a 51 for Troy and third went to Greenville’s Jessica Mortensen with a 52.

Mechanicsburg 237, Triad 238: Kayleigh Boldman tallied a 50 earning her medalist honors for Triad and Mazie Reese of Mechanicsburg came in second with a 55. Mechanicsburg defeated Triad in a tie breaker against their fifth player.

Boys Golf

Ben Logan 173, Indian Lake 190: Leading the way for Ben Logan was Ethan Ricketts with a 36 and followed by Garrett Allen at 43.

Botkins 181, Anna 186: Nick Fischio tallied a 37 for the winning Botkins team. Alex Bajwa of Botkins and Cole Maurer both tied for second with a 45.

Cedarville 186, Greenon 215: Caleb Smith led Cedarville with a score of 44 followed by Adam Wood with 45. Jadon Horsley earned third for Cedarville and Greenon’s Dylan Schetter with a 50.

Greeneview 175, Madison Plains 185: Mason Witt of Greenview took home medalist honors with a 36 and in second was Adyn Grammell with a 42. A tie for third with 46 points was held by Matt Hovan of Greenview and Clay Grear of Madison Plains.

Houston 183, New Knoxville 203: Ray Newton and Sam Anspach tied with a 43 for New Knoxville in a losing effort.

Monroe 178, Northridge 249: Alex Gomia led the field for Monroe with a 37 followed by teammate Jackson Baker with a 44. Jonathan Holmes of Northridge led his team with a 60.

Newton 177, Twin Valley South 195: Chet Jamison of Newton came in first with a score of 42 while Willie Bowman of Twin Valley South finished second with a 44.

Northeastern 163, West Liberty-Salem 209: Patrick Harr recorded a 41 in a losing effort for WLS.

Oakwood 149, Bellbrook 180: Ryan Quigley shot a 34 and earned medalist honors for Oakwood. Sam Lahmon placed second with a 37 for Oakwood and Tom McCarthy and Jonah Cunningham tied for third with a 39.

St. Henry 166, Wapak 183: Medalist Jack Romer of St. Henry scored a 35 and teammates Rylee Deitsch and Lucas Grieshop tied for third with a 43. In second place was Drew Zwiebel of Wapak with a 41.

Triad 198, Mechanicsburg 217: Jack Shoemaker led Mechanicsburg with a 43 followed by Cole Pond from Triad with a 46. Coy Knotts from Triad tallied a 50 for third.

Girls Tennis

Butler 5, Northmont 0: In first singles Xia Lin of Butler defeated Alaina Anderson 6-0, 6-1. In second doubles Tori Studebaker and Jo Velasco of Butler defeated Aubrey Ferrell and Rachel Smith 6-0, 6-0.

Edgewood 3, Middletown 2: Arianna Layne and Montiza Newbern-Wiggins each notched a singles win for Middletown. Hannah Manuel won in singles for Edgewood.
