HS Roundup 2/4: Gordon, Roberts pace Sidney boys in Monday win

The Sidney boys basketball team picked up its fifth win in eight days with a 72-37 victory versus Lehman Catholic on Monday.

Virginia Tech commit Andre Gordon scored 16 of his 20 points in the first half as Sidney jumped out to an early lead.

Ratez Roberts and Keith Lee added 10 points apiece for Sidney, with Roberts passing his own school record for blocks in a season.

Bryce Kennedy led Lehman Catholic with 10 points.

Sidney, which improved to 16-3 and is currently tied with Butler for first in the Greater Western Ohio Conference North, will face Piqua on Friday.

Girls Basketball

Badin 62, St. Ursula 45: Emma Broermann tallied 17 points and Emily Maher 14 to pace Badin, which opened the game on a 10-0 run.

Beavercreek 57, Tecumseh 44: Taylor Steinbrunner recorded 13 points and Katie Powderly Added 10 for ‘Creek, which jumped out to a 22-5 lead in the first quarter. Corinne Thomas led Tecumseh with 20 points.

Carroll 52, Northmont 48: MaKayla Cooper set a school record for three-point baskets in a season but Northmont’s rally effort came up short. Carroll improved to 19-1.

Catholic Central 35, Northwestern 33: Abbigail Peterson put up 14 points to lead Catholic Central. Kyndall Berner led Northwestern with 13 points.

Covington 69, Ansonia 34: Samantha Whiteman poured in 31 points and Lauren Christian chipped in 14 for Covington. Trinity Henderson paced Ansonia with 13 points.

Dayton Christian 60, Jefferson 9: Shaina Caddy and Destiny Rome totaled 12 points apiece and Kiara Sanders tacked on 10 for Dayton Christian.

Dunbar 58, Stivers 22: Monet Allen and Samaria Brown scored 10 points apiece to pace Dunbar.

Fairborn 57, Stebbins 28: Natalie Oktavec chipped in 18 points, Evelyn Oktavec added 15 and Khala Powell 14 for Fairborn.

Greenville 49, Bethel 38: Haleigh Mayo-Behnken chipped in 13 points to lead Greenville. Olivia Reittinger scored 11 points for Bethel.

Goshen 49, Talawanda 32: Jazz Bennett and Sophie Pohlabel each put up eight points in a losing effort for Talawanda, with Pohlabel hauling in 10 rebounds.

Hamilton 62, Colerain 47: CiCi Riggins paced Hamilton with 23 points, Anna Cardwell added 15 and Leah Smith 10.

Houston 68, Mississinawa Valley 26: Amber Stangel led four players in double-digit scoring for Houston with 14 points.

Lebanon 55, Miamisburg 47: Kendall Folley netted 25 points and Lebanon snapped a seven game losing skid. Alex Sperry paced Miamisburg with 12 points.

Mason 54, Springboro 40: Sammie Puisis scored 18 points and Alanna Carter 15 for Mason, which pulled away with a 13-point swing in the second quarter. Olivia Majors tallied 12 points for ‘Boro.

Milton-Union 44, Franklin Monroe 25: Kristen Dickison recorded 17 points with 10 steals to lead Milton-Union and Olivia Brown added 11 points. Corina Conley had 14 points for Franklin Monroe.

Oakwood 57, Madison 34: Lauren Hapgood spurred Oakwood with 23 points, Margie Conrath added 14 and Ellie Duwel 10. Madison was led by Grace Baker with 13 points.

Tippecanoe 43, Miami East 28: Ashleigh Mader scored 17 points, Kendall Clodfelter 10 and Tippecanoe turned in a strong defensive effort to earn the victory.

West Liberty-Salem 65, Northeastern 10: Kelsey Day scored 15 points, Selena Weaver 14 and WLS improved to 14-0 in conference play.
