Ohio State will play No. 12 Oregon, which dropped one spot from its position in the preseason poll, in its home opener at noon Saturday.
Alabama stayed at No. 1 and received 59 of 63 first-place votes. The Crimson Tide opened the season with a 44-13 victory against the Miami Hurricanes.
Georgia received four first-place votes after beating Clemson 10-3 and climbed from No. 5 to No. 2.
Oklahoma dropped from No. 2 to No. 4 after beating Tulane 40-35.
Clemson fell from No. 3 to No. 6. It’s the first time since 2017 it has not ranked in the top four.
Cincinnati and Notre Dame each moved up one spot, to No. 7 and No. 8 respectively, while Iowa State fell two spots to No. 9. Iowa State’s next opponent, No. 10 Iowa, rounds out the top 10.
