Allen caught seven passes for 91 yards in six games and had a 19-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter against Northwestern on Oct. 8. He did not play in a 34-28 loss to Michigan State on Saturday.
Wisconsin (3-4, 1-3) is in last place in the Big Ten West Division. Coach Paul Chryst was fired after five games.
Chryst talked about Allen during Big Ten Media Days last summer.
“Markus is talented,” Chryst said. “I like Markus. I think football is important to him. I’m excited for fall camp. It was good he got a ton of reps in spring, and he’s done a good job this summer. He’s lost some weight.”
Allen originally committed to Michigan in April 2020 but reopened his recruitment later that in September, early in his senior season at Northmont. He signed with Wisconsin in December 2020.
Allen appeared in two games as a freshman in his first season at Wisconsin. He caught three passes for 65 yards.
