Here are 5 things to know about area racing this weekend:
1. Have a blast at Eldora: Eldora Speedway hosts its popular Family Fireworks Night on Saturday, with the UMP modifieds and stock cars on tap for racing.
The event offers an autograph session in the fan zone at 5 p.m., a bounce house, balloon twisting clowns and other family-friendly activities. Following the racing, which begins at 7:30 p.m., the speedway will host the largest fireworks show in track history.
2. Double the fun: Kil-Kare Speedway hosts a pair of events this weekend. Friday, it's the Friday Night Pro Double Up. Doug Caplinger leads the early points chase in the Pro Division, holding a slight lead over Caleb Ellison, Steven Collier, Gwayne Honeycutt and James Sanders among others. Gates open at 5 p.m. Kil-Kare hosts its regular NHRA-sanctioned Summit ET Series racing on Saturday. Gates open at 9 a.m.
3. Manual labor of love: The United Manual Transmission Racers make a visit to Edgewater Sports Park on Saturday. Also on the NHRA-sanctioned Summit racing card are the super pro, pro, sportsman, motorcycle and junior dragster divisions. Gates open at 2 p.m.
4. Limaland memorial: Limaland Motorsports Park hosts the Steve Brown Memorial on Friday with the NRA Sprints, modifieds and thunderstocks all in action. Gates open at 5 p.m.
5. Weather or not: Racing fans might need to keep an eye on the sky once again this weekend. Some forecasts are calling for a chance of rain Saturday morning, one week after tracks had to cancel.
