Waynesfield Raceway Park’s slogan says it best for the Fourth of July weekend. It truly is a Red, White and Vroom weekend ... and there’s something for everyone during a three-day racing extravaganza.

The highlight can be found at Kil-Kare Speedway on Sunday with the Freedom 76 Stock Car Race, presented by Ross Edmonds International Motorsport Promotion LLC.

The event — which also features a motorcycle and car show and multicultural concerts — puts the focus on minorities in racing and pays the winner $5,000. Gates open at 9 a.m. with the race scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

“With the race, the car and motorcycle shows, the concerts and the food, at the end of it we want you to be able to say, ‘Wow, I just had a heck of a day and witnessed a whole lot,’ ” race promoter Steve Ross said during a press conference announcing the event in February. “I think it will be a memory etched in your mind. One that you can tell your grandkids about one day and say, ‘I saw history being made.’ ”

Kil-Kare also hosts the ARCA Truck Series tonight, with a non-points race for compacts, and Kil-Kare Dragway hosts its NHRA-sanctioned racing with time trials at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Shady Bowl Speedway: The track returns to action with its season debut Sunday with a special 50-lap late model, 40-lap modified and 30-lap street stock race. Compacts and Pro 4s will also be in action.

Waynesfield Raceway Park: In addition to the racing show, the track offers a post-race concert with Polly Mae (formerly Harmony). The track also hosts its third annual “Dirt Trackin’ For Kids with Cancer” toy drive. Nonwing, UMP modifieds, Thunder stock cars, mini sprints, compacts and tough trucks are in action.

The rain date for the concert is 7 p.m. Sunday.
