High school recruiting: Busy national signing day for Wayne girls basketball

The Wayne High School girls basketball team has much to celebrate at the start of the early signing period for college scholarships.

Coach Travis Trice announced four of his players are signing NCAA national letters of intent Wednesday night: Bree Hall, Lovie Malone, Alyssa Hargrove-Hall and Jacquel Bronaugh.

Hall is among the top prospects in the country and is headed to South Carolina, a perennial powerhouse under coach Dawn Staley.

She has been a national prospect since before he freshman season and led the GWOC in scoring at 21.4 points per game last season. The 6-foot guard also shot nearly 40 percent from 3-point range and grabbed 7.4 rebounds per game.

Hargrove-Hall is signing with Stetson after averaging 8.2 points and 2.7 steals per game last season.

Malone, who contributed 6.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game last season, is signing with Valparaiso while Bronaugh is headed to IUPUI.

Bronaugh averaged 4.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game a season ago as the Warriors went 23-3 and tied Fairmont for the league title.
