The second half of June was just as busy as the first for the numerous college football prospects in the area.

Here is a rundown:

1. Bryan Henderson of Lakota West committed to Buffalo.

He is the fourth Firebird to announce his college choice, joining Tegra Tshabola and Jyaire Brown (both going to Ohio State) and Alex Afari (Kentucky).

The 6-foot-1, 260-pound Henderson was fifth in the GMC last season with 5.5 sacks. He also has offers from Eastern Illinois, Wofford, Youngstown State and Fordham.

2. Another Firebird defensive lineman, Joshua Lukusa, recently added an offer from Toledo to go with one from the hometown Cincinnati Bearcats.

3. Aamil Wagner, the top-rated uncommitted area player in the class of 2022, took official visits to Notre Dame, Maryland and Penn State in the second half of the month after seeing Ohio State and Kentucky earlier in the month.

He told this news organization he was impressed with the presentations at all five schools, who all heavily pushed academics, and he is looking at checking out some game-day experiences this fall before making a decision.

4. Teammates and fellow offensive linemen Joshua Padilla and Evan Tengesdahl were also out and about throughout June.

Padilla visited Miami (Fla.) and received an offer from Indiana while Tengesdahl camped at Notre Dame and received his first Division I FBS offer from West Virginia.

5. While Wagner is a senior, Padilla and Tengesdahl are both juniors, as is Wayne receiver R.J. Mukes. Mukes also went to Notre Dame as well as Miami University, Kentucky and Cincinnati.

He tagged Wayne alumni Marcus Freeman and Mike Mickens — both Fighting Irish coaches known as strong recruiters — in a tweet about his visit to South Bend.

6. Anthony Brown of Springfield, another talented receiver in the class of 2023, started the month with a flourish and finished it by picking up an offer from Purdue.

He also made a second trip to Ohio State, where he reportedly worked out as a punt returner after showing off his receiving skills at an earlier camp appearance in Columbus.

Northmont receiver and fellow junior Javien Brownlee also camped at Ohio State later in the month.

7. Springfield’s Delian Bradley also camped at Ohio State early in the month and told this news organization June was great for him after being unable to make visits over the previous year-plus because of an NCAA-mandated recruiting dead period.

The standout defensive back also went to Michigan, Pitt, Penn, Penn State and Columbia.

He has plans to visit Harvard this week.

8. Two more from Springfield defensive linemen added offers in the second half of June as senior end Tayden Harper picked one up from Muskingum and tackle Tywan January was offered by Lawrence Tech in Southfield, Mich., and Washburn University in Topeka, Kans.

Jokell Brown, another Wildcats senior defensive lineman, has offers from Findlay, Tiffin, Washburn and Lake Erie College with hopes of Division I offers to come after impressing at several camps this summer.

9. Elsewhere in the GWOC, Springboro offensive lineman Evan Brown reported having a new offer from Marshall.

10. Multiple area prospects made a trip to Oxford for a Miami University camp late in the month.

That included Springfield quarterback Te’Sean Smoot and Wildcats offensive lineman ZyAaron Woodruff, Miamisburg defensive back Corwyn Hurt, Wayne running back Ray Greene and Hamilton teammates Derrick Deaton, Malik Verdon and Gabe Verdon.

11. Smoot is one of the best quarterbacks in the area for 2022 while Arcanum’s Bryce Schondelmyer appears to be one to watch in the class of 2023.

Schondelmyer worked out at Louisville’s camp late in June after hitting a handful of camps earlier in the month.

12. Piqua’s Landon Hare reported getting offers from Mount St. Joseph and Lake Erie College.

LEC has been busy in the area. Aside from Jokell Brown and Deaton, Lake Erie College also offered Piqua’s Caleb Lyons, Tanner Kemp and Siah Medley.

Lyons also received a Fordham offer while elsewhere in the MVC Cedric Anthony of West Carrollton was offered by Capital University.
