Trump rally in Warren County shifts football game, other sports

Lebanon City Schools is rescheduling several sporting events to avoid conflicts with President Donald Trump's scheduled rally in Lebanon on Friday evening, according to Lebanon Superintendent Todd Yohey.

The varsity football game pitting 4-3 Lebanon against 6-1 Miamisburg has been moved to a 7 p.m. Thursday kickoff, with gates opening at 6 p.m. Pre-sale tickets will be available on Thursday during school lunch periods and online at www.ticketracker.com.

The volleyball games against Springboro, which had been scheduled for Thursday, now will be played on Monday, Oct. 15. The JV and freshman matches will both be at 5:30 p.m., in the main and auxiliary gyms respectively, followed by the varsity match at 6:45 p.m.

Lebanon school officials thanked Miamisburg and Springboro for their cooperation on the late rescheduling.

Lebanon’s junior high football “B” game has been canceled this week, and junior high volleyball will be determined at a later date.

Trump will hold a rally in support of Republican candidates at 7 p.m. Friday at the Warren County Fairgrounds in Lebanon.

The varsity football game is a GWOC National West matchup. Currently No. 11, Lebanon would have to win out and likely get additional help to make the Division I, Region 4 playoff field.

Miamisburg is among five GWOC teams in D-I, Region 3 playoff contention and is No. 6.

Last season Miamisburg defeated Lebanon 24-13 to snap a four-game losing streak.

There are three other games on Thursday night:

•Belmont at Cin. Dohn Community, 8 p.m.

•Meadowdale vs. Thurgood Marshall at Welcome Stadium, 7 p.m.

•Springfield Shawnee at Kenton Ridge, 7 p.m.,
