The Reds reinstated Gennett from the 60-day injured list Friday. He will start at second base and hit sixth.
To make room for Gennett on the roster, the Reds placed catcher Tucker Barnhart on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain.

Gennett has been on the injured list all season with a right groin injury. He suffered the injury in spring training. He made four rehab appearances with the Single-A Daytona Tortugas and went 2-for-14 with a double and a walk. In three games with the Louisville Bats, he went 2-for-12 with a double.
This is the third season with the Reds for Gennett, 29. He has hit 50 home runs the last two seasons after hitting 35 home runs in his first four seasons in the big leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers.
