Former NFL coach, UD assistant Dennis Green dies at 67

The football world was saddened Friday morning to learn of the sudden, unexpected death of former football coach Dennis Green.

ESPN reported Green died of cardiac arrest.

The Pennsylvania native began his coaching career as an assistant at Dayton in 1973.

He went on to many stops in a career that spanned four decades, including stints as head coach at Northwestern and Stanford before moving on to the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals.

Green was 67.
