Adkins, a 5-foot-7 senior point guard at Huntington St. Joseph's High School, originally committed to DePaul but decided to stay closer to home after the death of her dad Mike, 42, in May, according to the Huntington Herald Dispatch.

"After my dad's accident, I decided I wanted to be closer to my family," Adkins told the paper. "Dayton is a really good school. I visited and I liked it and my dad liked it, too."
