Dayton Flyers back in three-way tie for first place

The Dayton Flyers are back in first place with three games to go in the Atlantic 10 regular season thanks to one of the biggest upsets in conference play this season.

Thirteenth-place George Mason (10-18, 4-11) upset Virginia Commonwealth 76-69 on Wednesday in Fairfax, Va., avenging a 71-47 loss in Richmond in the A-1o opener for both teams on Jan. 2.

The Rams (20-8, 12-3) fall back into a first-place with Dayton (22-5, 12-3) and St. Joseph’s (23-5, 12-3). The Hawks won 74-57 at Massachusetts on Wednesday.

St. Bonaventure (19-7, 11-4) trails the trio of first-place teams by a game. The Bonnies beat Duquesne 80-76 on Wednesday.

VCU shot 5 of 22 from 3-point range in its loss to the Patriots. George Mason outscored VCU 22-12 at the free-throw line.
