Dayton Flyers guard Jalen Crutcher honored by Atlantic 10

Dayton Flyers guard Jalen Crutcher won the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week award on Monday, three days after he hit a game-winning 3-pointer in the final second of overtime at Saint Louis.

Crutcher averaged 20.5 points and 3.5 assists in victories against Virginia Commonwealth and Saint Louis. He scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time in his career.

Crutcher shot 50 percent from the field (13 of 26), 42.9 percent from 3-point range (6 of 14) and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line (9 of 11).

Crutcher is the third Dayton player to win the weekly award. Obi Toppin won it Nov. 11 and Jan. 16. Ibi Watson was honored Dec. 30.

With 950 points in his career, Crutcher moved into 54th place in the Dayton record book. He passed Bucky Bockhorn (941) and Noland Robinson (942) with 21 points against the Billikens on Friday.
