WSU drops softball heartbreaker

FAIRBORN — Wright State’s Krystian DeWitt and Miami University’s Jessica Simpson hooked up a pitcher’s duel Wednesday at the WSU Softball Field with Miami scoring an unearned run in the sixth to pull out a 1-0 win.

With one out in the sixth, Jordan McElroy reached on an error, stole second and went to third on a Meghan Mawn single through the left side. Allie Larrabee then laid down a successful squeeze bunt to drive in McElroy.

Flyers swept: Morehead State beat Dayton 6-1 (10 innings) and 14-2 (five innings), but UD freshman Kasi Vazquez's solo home run in the second game helped the Flyers set a single-season record for home runs with 31, breaking the record of 30 set in 2000.
