Jenkins throws four TDs as Wittenberg beats Kenyon

Zack Jenkins threw four touchdown passes and cornerback Ryan Myers picked off three passes to lead Wittenberg to a 45-21 victory against Kenyon at McBride Field in Gambier on Saturday.

The game started at 10 a.m. because Kenyon hosted the North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey tournament in the afternoon. The Tigers left campus at 6 a.m.

The Tigers (7-2, 6-2 NCAC) have won four straight games since losing 35-30 at DePauw. They extended their winning streak against Kenyon to 26. They close the regular next next Saturday against Allegheny at Edwards-Maurer Field.

The senior quarterback Jenkins completed 17 of 25 passes for 345 yards. The game was tied 7-7 after one quarter, but Wittenberg scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 28-7 halftime lead.

Luke Landis and Corey Stump each caught two touchdown passes. Landis caught six passes for 124 yards. Stump had five receptions for 92 yards. Luke Bowling caught five passes for 94 yards.

Sean Gary returned from injury to lead the rushing attack, gaining 90 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown run.

Linebacker Dustin Holmes led the defense with 13 tackles. Defensive back Keenan Wilson had 10 tackles. Linebacker Jesse Kolinac had one interception.

The Tigers outgained the Lords 476-331. Kenyon fell to 2-7 and 2-6 in the NCAC.
