After a missed 3 by Wittenberg’s Shane Edwards, Denison took the lead on a 3-pointer by Briggs King with 25 seconds left. Leahy missed a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left, and after the Tigers grabbed an offensive rebound, Denison committed a foul with three seconds left before Wittenberg could try another game-tying 3-pointer.
The loss ends a three-game winning streak for the Tigers (15-4, 9-3). Denison (9-10, 5-7) avenged a 97-69 loss at home to Wittenberg in December.
Scott Masin led the Tigers with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting and added 11 rebounds. Leahy hit 5-of-12 shots and scored 13. Edwards and Cole Bond each scored eight.
Wittenberg out-rebounded Denison 39-28 but lost the turnover battle 16-10.
Wooster and Ohio Wesleyan (each 10-2) won Saturday and are now tied for first place. Oberlin upset DePauw 62-60, so Wittenberg and DePauw are tied for second.
