Flyers rout Alabama; extend home winning streak

The Dayton Flyers extended their home winning streak to 24 games Tuesday afternoon with an emphatic 80-48 win over Alabama at UD Arena.

The Flyers (2-0) were led by Charles Cooke, who scored 21 points in his second game in a Dayton uniform. Cooke is a junior transfer from James Madison.

Scoochie Smith added 15 points, Steve McElvene 13 and Darrell Davis 10. McElvene also pulled down 11 rebounds.

Alabama fell to 1-1.

The game, which tipped off at 1 p.m., was part of ESPN’s tip-off marathon.

Dayton wraps up its three-game homestand to start the season against William & Mary at 2 p.m. Saturday.
