The Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday claimed left-handed reliever Josh D. Smith off waivers from the Miami Marlins.

To make room for Smith, the Reds designated for assignment catcher Juan Graterol.

Smith, 30, had a 6.39 ERA last season in 14 games with the Indians and Marlins — his only season at the major league level. At Triple A Columbus this season, he went 8-1 with 2.91 ERA.

Smith has spent eight seasons in the minors, notching a 33-19 record with a 3.86 ERA.
