Burfict returns to Bengals practice

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict practiced Thursday for the first time since suffering a concussion in the 23-20 loss to Pittsburgh on Dec. 4.

Burfict, who is still in concussion protocol and prohibited from talking to the media, was listed as a limited participant. How he recovers from his first practice and how much he is able to do Friday will determine whether he plays Sunday in the home finale against Detroit.

Burfict was one of three changes from Wednesday’s injury report. The others were running back Brian Hill (ankle) upgraded to full participation and H-back Ryan Hewitt (knee) upgraded to limited.

Right tackle Cedric Ogubehi (shoulder) missed his second consecutive practice, but he was doing rehab work on the side field. Linebacker Nick Vigil (ankle) reamins out, having not played since Week 12 against Cleveland.

Running back Joe Mixon, who hasn’t played since suffering a concussion against the Steelers, was a full participant for this third consecutive practice.
