Burfict TD celebration gets high marks from A.J. Green

You probably could have gotten Conor McGregor-like odds on the best touchdown celebration by a Cincinnati Bengals player this preseason coming from linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

But Sunday afternoon after returning an interception 62 yards for a score in a 23-17 loss at Washington, Burfict delighted Bengals fans and his teammates when he climbed into the stands and began dancing in an empty section of seats in the front row.

“That was one of the best ones I’ve ever seen,” Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green said.

Burfict said he wasn’t trying to take advantage of the league’s relaxed rules on celebrations, he was thinking more about catching his breath.

“Honestly, I didn’t care about the celebration rule,” he said. “I was so tired. My legs were so tired. I was like, ‘I’m going to go up into the seats.’”

A few plays later Burfict injured his back and head while tackling Redskins wide receiver Terrelle Pryor. Burfict cleared concussion protocol but did not return to the game.
