EASTLAKE — Two eighth-inning errors opened the door for five unearned runs as Lake County routed the Dayton Dragons 8-2 on Wednesday.

Lake County pitcher Brett Brach scattered seven hits over seven innings and the Captains’ error-aided eighth-inning rally broke open a 3-2 game.

The Dragons, 9-28 in the second half, play the third of a four-game series at Lake County tonight (7), sending Ricky Bowen (2-5, 5.72) to the mound.

Pitino extortion jury still deliberating

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A jury deliberated for nearly two hours Wednesday but went home without reaching a decision in the case of a Kentucky woman accused of demanding millions from Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino to keep quiet about their sexual tryst.

Karen Cunagin Sypher, 50, has pleaded not guilty to extortion and other charges. She did not testify in her own defense, and her attorneys rested their case without calling any witnesses. In closing arguments, they claimed her ex-husband tried to extort the coach.

Jurors will resume discussions this morning. If convicted, Sypher could face up to 26 years in prison.
