Background/Overview: Ken and Teri Jarboe married and had their daughter. Ken worked in the computer industry for 20 years. He grew tired of being away from his family while on the road for weeks at a time. When their son was born in 2003, he intensely prayed for a new career opportunity allowing him to be close to home.
Bud and Norma Duffey owned Michael’s Pizza in Urbana for many years. They retired from that business enterprise, then partnered with Patrick and Cynthia Maurice to open Sparky’s Pizzeria. It was named after “Sparky” the mascot of Urbana High School. Ken’s prayers were answered when the partners sold Sparky’s Pizzeria to he and Teri in 2004.
In 2013, Ken and Teri opened Freddie’s Pizzeria. It was named after “Freddie” the mascot of Graham High School. The pizzerias have been honored with awards such as a first place “ATW” (All-The-Works”) Award at The North American Pizza and Ice Cream Show and the first place “Reader’s Choice” Award as the best pizza place in Champaign County for six straight years by the Urbana Daily Citizen.

The present Banquet Facility at Sparky’s Pizzeria seats 36 guests. A 24-hour reservation is appreciated.
Sparky’s will be relocating from its current setting to its new location directly across the street in the old Ponderosa Steakhouse building at 633 Scioto St. in Urbana sometime in 2015.
