The owners of a local entertainment attraction are getting ready to throw axes into a different kind of ring.

Daniel Huiet said he and Michael Keggan, his partner in Great Escape Game, are opening Wild Axe Throwing in a 5,300-square-foot space in Beaver Valley Shopping Center on Seajay Drive in Beavercreek.

Wild Axe Throwing is expected to open this week on Thursday, June 20, according to a Facebook post, but you can officially start booking your games now.

If you're interested in being one of the first to give axe throwing in Beavercreek a try, you can visit the business' website or call 937-912-9741.

“My main goal is to provide entertainment to the city that I love,” Huiet previously told this news organization.

The axe throwing center will employ 15 and is located in the former site of Petco near Wings Sports Bar and Grille,  Recline and Rest and 24-7 Gym and Fitness.

“Axe throwing is kind of like bowling, except better. You have six people per lane. You can throw just for fun or play against each other with one of our many games,” Huiet said. “I wanted to bring something to Dayton that everyone could do. Something unique that you can do with co-workers or family. The Great Escape Game has been such a hit with our customers and and I wanted to give them more.”

Huiet and Keegan opened Great Escape in 2016 at 2332 Grange Hall Road in Beavercreek. Great Escape includes several escape rooms. Participants have an hour to solve puzzles, find keys and escape the rooms.

The owners of Wild Axe Throwing applied for a full liquor license Thursday, March 25, with the Ohio Division of Liquor Control.

“We will be selling alcohol, but there's no huge bar or anything. Low-key stuff like a couple beers and a couple wines,” he said. “Each throwing lane will have its own table.”

The two private lanes will be on opposite sides of the other lanes and separated by a half wall, he said.

“Will have extra tables and space for those that want more of a private experience,” Huiet said.

Axe throwing centers with rent-able lanes are growing in popularity in recent years. They are located in several places throughout the state.
