SCHOOLEY,

Janice Barbara

GREENVILLE — Janice Barbara Schooley died on December 27, 2020, in Greenville, Ohio, at an age she would never have

allowed in print. Born in Knox County, Kentucky, to Anna

and Steeley Siler, she was

married for 56 years to Robert Schooley. She is survived by

her twin brother, Jim Siler

(California), and her daughter, Brooke Schooley (New York).

Jan was a talented interior designer with a degree from the New York School of Interior Design. She served as the

Christian Education Director of the Greenville First Assembly of God Church and on the board of Treaty City Manor.

She sang with a rich alto voice and played the piano with great sensitivity. She hated the kitchen but baked a widely celebrated German sweet chocolate cake. She had determination, beauty and many, many books.

Jan was a soft-hearted but fierce champion of the underdog. She rounded up Christmas presents for children of the incarcerated. She fundraised for adoption agencies and supported orphanages around the world. A lifelong dog owner, she always chose the runt of the litter. She lobbied for the humane treatment of farm animals, altering her diet after extensive reading on factory farming. She rooted for the Cleveland Browns.

If you would like to honor Jan, please consider a donation to Compassion in World Farming at www.donate.ciwf.com or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at

www.michaeljfox.org. Or, just heed her advice to please hang your pictures at eye level, avoid wearing linen and moisturize your neck. Arrangements are being handled by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
