LESCHANSKY, Edward

LESCHANSKY,

Edward James

Age 93, formerly of Dayton, OH, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2021, at home

surrounded by his loving

family. Edward was a 1946 graduate of Chaminade High School, where he excelled in academics and in football. He made both All City Teams and third team All State, which was an impressive feat for a 155 pound guard. After high school, he enlisted in the Army, where he discovered his passion for medicine. Edward then transferred to a medical unit in Osaka, where he trained to be a surgical technician. Upon returning to the States, he worked during the day at Inland Manufacturing and enrolled into night school at the University of Dayton. Edward earned a

Pre-Med degree in three years with Honors. He continued his education at St. Louis School of Medicine and earned his

Medical degree. Edward completed his residency at St.

Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton, and eventually opened his own practice as a Physician in Family Medicine, where he practiced for 40 years until he retired to care for his father. He became close to many of the patients and their families that followed him throughout the years. In addition to his practice, Edward remained active with the University of Dayton and served many years as a team physician. He also remained committed to St. Elizabeth Hospital, serving on several committees and as Chief of Staff. Edward was a dedicated physician who

balanced his strong work ethic with a great sense of humor. He shared the same compassion and humor with many friends, colleagues, and relatives over the years. Edward's strongest dedication, though, was to his wife and his family. His interests and hobbies included horseback riding, motor home road trips, boating and skiing, vacations and cruises, photography, and gardening; all created to connect family and provide moments filled with adventure and fun. Edward's involvement, his unconditional love and his funny antics

continued to grow as he welcomed sons and daughters-in-law and grandchildren into the family. During his later years, he and his wife were able to spend time traveling around the world, exploring new destinations, and enjoying time together. Edward lived a full and happy life. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Wanda Ruth (Arvin); his

parents, Edward Joseph and Doris (James); his sister, Arlene June (Braun); and his son-in-law, Mike Couch. Edward is

survived by his children, Ed (Mary Ann) Leschansky, Jamie

(Larry) Fullenkamp, Vickie Couch, Annette (Doug) Even, Lori (Mark) Pickard, Patti (Jay) Leschansky, Jim Leschansky, and Teri (Tod) Cooper; his 16 grandchildren, Nick (Supinda), Bret,

Elizabeth (Adam), Anne (Jay), Catherine, Matt (Tiffany), Zach (Mirian), Max (Meghan), Erica (Austin), Alex, Adam, Jacob,

Andy, Nate, Linsay (Patrick), and Leah; his great-grandchildren, Spencer, Winston, and Grace; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., on Friday, June 11 at 9:30 am with Mass following at 10:30 am. A livestream can be viewed at
