The couple, who lived outside Melbourne, called police after opening the package Wednesday and finding the drugs, the network reported.
"The occupants of the premises are obviously quite elderly, so they're unsure of the significance of the find," Detective Acting Senior Sgt, Matthew Kershaw told ABC. "Obviously in terms of what we have recovered, we know it's quite significant. But we're just assuring them that they've done absolutely nothing wrong."
Detectives later arrested a man at his home, where another 20 kilograms of meth was found, the BBC reported.
"(It's) quite incredible to comprehend that someone could be that sloppy," Kershaw said.
Police said Zhiling Ma, 21, of Melbourne, was arrested and was charged with importing a marketable quantity of a border controlled drug, Nine News Australia reported.
