Springfield announces members of new police advisory team

The City of Springfield has chosen nine people to serve as members of its new Community Police Advisory Team.

Those selected will be tasked with working with members of local law enforcement as well as with city officials to review and recommend policy related to policing. They will also provide an additional channel for residents’ concerns, said Springfield Mayor Warren Copeland.

The formation of the advisory team was announced earlier this year. Those interested were asked to send an application to the city. The members of the team were appointed by Copeland with the consent and approval of the city commission.

Those selected will serve a three-year term.

“I’m very excited to engage and work with the advisory team,” said Chief Lee Graf, of the Springfield Police Division. “We have always strived to make the Springfield Police Division as inclusive as possible and the advisory team will represent another positive step in that direction.

Members of the advisory team include Jeannette Anderson, James Bacon, Lisa Dunn, Lisa Henry, Ramona Henry, Lauren Kelley, Ravi Khanna, Otis Williams and Robert Young.
