According to The Associated Press, the 22-year-old phenom successfully performed a Cheng and an Amanar on Saturday to win gold on vault, finishing with a 15.399 score. With that victory, Biles claimed the 23rd world championships medal of her career, tying Belarusian gymnast Vitaly Scherbo's record.

Fellow American Jade Carey finished second with a score of 14.883, while Britain's Ellie Downie posted a 14.816 score to win bronze, Team USA's official website said.
Biles could surpass Scherbo's medal record Sunday when she competes in the floor and balance beam finals, the AP reported.
