Vermont town’s ‘naughty’ and ‘nice’ signs tell drivers exactly where they stand this holiday season

Forget watching you sleep.

Santa, apparently, watches you drive in Vermont, and one police department has installed the interactive signs to prove who has been naughty or nice.

According to CNN, the Chester Police Department debuted the holiday-themed radar sign recently that literally illuminates "naughty" for speeders and "nice" for speed limit-abiding drivers.

"We received a request direct from the North Pole to remind everyone that Santa is still making his list and checking it twice, and to make sure to have a safe and happy holiday season!" the department posted on Facebook Wednesday, CBS News reported.

Of course, the official story is only slightly less whimsical.

"A resident had seen the radar signs in Manchester and mentioned it to our town clerk," Det. Adam Woodell told CNN, referencing a similar setup operating in nearby Manchester for the past three years.

"It gets drivers to pay attention and that is the ultimate goal, to keep people safe, not just festive," Woodell told CNN.
