"We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days," the team said in a statement. "But we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time."
Brown played one game for the Patriots. He caught a touchdown in the Patriot's 43-0 win over Miami last Sunday.
He was signed by the team earlier in the month after the Oakland Raiders released the wideout. Shortly after being signed by New England, Brown became the subject of sexual assault and rape allegations in a civil lawsuit out of Florida.
The Associated Press reported another woman has also come forward, saying Brown exposed himself to her while she was working on a project at his home in Pittsburgh.
Brown's attorney said his client denies all of the allegations.
Brown thanked the Patriots on social media for the time with the team.
