A food manufacturing company issued a voluntary recall Monday of egg and potato salads sold at Trader Joe’s due to a possible listeria contamination.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Monday that Bakkovor Foods USA Inc. was recalling 6-ounce containers of Trader Joe’s Egg Salad and 20-ounce containers of Trader Joe’s Old Fashioned Potato Salad with “use by” days up to and including 12/27/19.

Officials said the salads were made using hard-boiled eggs that were possibly contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. The eggs, produced by Almark Foods' Gainesville, Georgia, facility, were recalled last week after officials with the Centers for Disease Control said they'd been linked to a multistate listeria outbreak.

Officials identified the products under recall as Trader Joe's 6-ounce egg salad cups with UPC No. 0066 6695 and Trader Joe's 20-ounce Old Fashioned Potato Salad trays with UPC No. 0032 1747.

According to the FDA, the salads under recall were distributed to Trader Joe’s stores in Alabama, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont and Wisconsin.

Officials recommended anyone who has bought the recalled salads discard them immediately or return them to the place where they were bought for a full refund.

No illnesses have been reported connected to the recall, officials said.
