Five Baby Squirrels Found Tied Together While Nesting Recovering

Squirrels rescued after tails get tangled in ‘Gordian Knot’

Officials at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at the Wisconsin Humane Society said the tails were so matted together with grass and strips of plastic their mother used to make their nest, KMSP reported

It was described as a “Gordian Knot,” according to the Facebook photos posted by the Humane Society.

Doctors had to anesthetize the squirrels to get them apart since they were “unruly” and “nippy” because they were scared, KMSP reported.

Each squirrel had some tissue damage to its tail, but they’re being watched by the staff at the rehabilitation center for any necrosis from lack of blood flow.

A grey squirrel under anesthesia had to have its tail untangled from its siblings tails.
