A woman said she saw a person drive up in a truck and dump the furniture, along with the puppy, on the roadside, the television station reported.
Sharon Norton, an animal control officer for the Brookhaven Police Department, responded to the scene and posted a photo on her Facebook page. According to Norton, the dog would not move out of the chair and appeared to be malnourished, WLBT reported.
“To the person that dumped this chair, your puppy was waiting for you to come back, slowly starving to death because it was afraid to leave the chair to find food," Norton said. "Shame on you for doing this to this puppy. ... but one day, karma will meet up with you.”
The puppy was taken into custody and will be fed. It then will be put up for adoption, WLBT reported.
