But when they were both 5, Crowe moved to Connecticut when her parents got divorced. For 12 years, they didn’t talk or see each other.
But more than a decade later, she found her mother's address book that had Tatman's old information in it, the "Today" show reported. That was when she was a teen in 2012. She then tracked him down on Facebook.
"Immediately, we started sending messages back and forth and sharing memories," Crowe told "Inside Edition."
"It was just like being back with your best friend that you haven't' seen, which was the craziest experience for me. You can never replicate that ... being away from someone and reconnecting," Tatman told "Today."
They met up in person when Crowe went to visit her father, who still lived near Tatman, "Today" reported. The couple realized they were meant to be. They had a long-distance relationship, but were able to go to each other's proms.
They're now in their 20s and got married in April, "Today" reported.
And to remember how the couple reconnected, they had a childhood photo of theirs recreated complete with a red Jeep, but instead of the toy 4x4, they had a grown-up version. They also used a guest book inspired by an address book, to remind them how they got back together, "Today" reported.
