A man in Rhode Island who police said drove his truck into the swimming pool of a residence Monday had a very specific answer when officers inquired about his alcohol consumption.

Officers arrived to the scene to find Nicolai R. Bautista, 22, still in the truck, which was resting partially in the pool, according to Scituate Police Chief Donald R. Delaere Jr. Delaere said it appeared that Bautista had floored the gas pedal in an attempt to back out of the pool. Officers reported the odor of burned rubber in the air.

Once Bautista removed himself from the truck, officers said he was stumbling and slurring, according to the police report. When asked if he’d been drinking, Bautista answered in the affirmative, and when asked how much, he said, "2 inches,” according to Delaere.

When pressed for specifics, Bautista told officers, "Jack," referring to Jack Daniels whiskey, WLNE reported. He also admitted to smoking marijuana, according to the police report.

After he was checked by rescue personnel for injuries, Bautista said, “Man, I’m glad that’s over. Take me home now.”

Delaere said that Bautista failed sobriety tests performed at the scene and once at the police station, blew a .125 BAC.

Bautista was charged with a first offense DUI, WLNE reported.

As for Bautista’s truck, Delaere said an industrial crane would have to be used to remove the vehicle from the pool.
