Hopkinsville police arrested 22-year-old Ashli Cussins on a warrant after they said she failed to provide immunizations, medical care or nutrition to her 6-month-old daughter, WHVO-FM reported. Police said the child was emaciated and had only gained 6 ounces since she was born.
Cussins’ 18-month-old daughter was also underweight and couldn’t walk, police said.
Cussins is facing two charges of first-degree criminal abuse, WZTV-TV reported.
Both children were removed from Cussins’ care. Both have gained weight, and the older child can now walk, police said.
