Tamika Brown was exposed to measles Oct. 12 during a visit to a Lehigh Valley Health Network, The Morning Call reported.
Health officials sent Brown a letter letting her know she was exposed and that she should get vaccinated. But she failed to get the vaccine, and she refused to show health officials immunization records.
When she told health officials she would not comply with a quarantine order, a petition was filed. A judge decided Monday that Brown will remain isolated at her home until Nov. 3, or until health officials can find proof she has had a measles vaccine.
Measles cases in the state increased from virtually none in the past two decades to 16 this year. There were two in 2018.
The trend mimics an increase nationally.
There have been 1,250 measles cases so far this year, up from 372 in 2018, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It's the most cases since 1992.
