Outraged mother makes Facebook video over 'unsanitary' school restroom

A mother went live on Facebook from a school restroom, complaining about the conditions, which she called "unsanitary" and unacceptable.

WSB-TV reported that Ashonti Dixon said she'd also complained last year about the issues at Lithonia Middle School in Lithonia, Georgia.

"I wanted to cuss so bad," the mother said on the video, touring the restroom, which she said had no so soap, had plywood stall doors and had multiple out of order toilets.

"Betcha them schools in (wealthier) Dunwoody don't look like this," Dixon is heard saying on the video.

The video was posted March 9 and has more than 20,000 views.

Dixon, whose son attended the school last year, told the station the kids don't deserve this.

"That's not safe, for one, and it's not right," she said.

A DeKalb County Schools representative said Dixon's video was taken before custodians cleaned and restocked it with soap and paper products. The representative also said all the stall doors in the school will be replaced over the next two weeks.

Dixon said she didn't believe it and that student's said it has been a problem for a while.

The district told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the work was already scheduled as part of a program by the superintendent.

Dixon said she was told the restroom would be repaired last year after complaining.

The mother said she loves Lithonia Middle even though her son left the school last year and just want students to have the best environment in which to learn.
