Video shows Carlos Martinez, 27, was driving a red car when he was hit by an unmarked silver SUV that disregarded a stop sign, WJBK reported. An officer then gets out of the SUV, orders Martinez to the ground and handcuffs him, video shows.

"All he kept saying was, 'You hit a cop, you hit a cop, you hit a cop,' and at no moment did he say, 'How are you, are you OK?'" Maria Martinez, Carlos Martinez's mother, told WJBK. "No, they just handcuffed him like a criminal."

Martinez was kept in handcuffs until he was put on a stretcher and taken to a hospital, WDIV reported. His passenger was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries, WJBK reported.

The undercover officer driving the SUV suffered a broken rib and collarbone, WDIV reported.

Michigan State Police are investigating and did not comment further to WJBK. The trooper has not been suspended during the investigation, WDIV reported.

Troopers told WJBK that Martinez was released from the hospital and was not charged
