Nebraska police find small python in suspect's pocket during arrest

A person being arrested by the Omaha Police Department had a python in their pocket. The snake has since been taken to the Nebraska Humane Society, where it will stay for five days before going up for adoption or taken to a sanctuary.

A person being arrested by the Omaha Police Department had a python in their pocket. The snake has since been taken to the Nebraska Humane Society, where it will stay for five days before going up for adoption or taken to a sanctuary.

Police officers in Omaha, Nebraska, made a scaly discovery when conducting an arrest Friday.

WOWT reported that Omaha Police Department Crime Prevention Specialist Theola Cooper posted a photo to Twitter on Friday. The image showed one of the department's officers with a snake wrapped around his wrist.

"This bullhead python was found in an arrestee's pocket," Cooper tweeted.

KETV reported that the Nebraska Humane Society will hold the python for five days because the person it was found with was arrested.

"If he doesn't claim it, the snake will either go up for adoption or will be taken to a sanctuary," Mark Langan with the NHS told WOWT.
