According to investigators, Rhodes has robbed at least a dozen businesses in Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska and Tennessee. Now Allegheny County police say his latest victim was a Pittsburgh-area business: The Meadows Off Track Betting facility in Harmar Township.
Just days before Thanksgiving, police said a man matching Rhodes' description snuck into The Meadows overnight and waited for the first employee to arrive – barricading her in a back room while he poured money from the safe into a trash bag.
That suspect took off in the employee’s SUV.
And it was a TV show that helped the public recognize Rhodes. Police said someone in Pittsburgh watching a wanted persons segment on a crime show recognized him and called police.
According to police, Rhodes often dresses up as a janitor for the business he plans to rob and brings a silver gun.
He was possibly last seen in Marysville, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday.
